A little more about the person behind the screen.
I've worked in tech for the last decade, first as an engineer and now as a product manager. But over the last few years I have discovered that my passion truly lies in birth and postpartum work.
My academic background is in human biology and psychology and ever since taking a class called "Birth" in college, I've been fascinated with how different cultures treat the acts of labor and childbirth. In the US, we're inundated with dramatic Hollywood images of women flat on their backs, feet up in stirrups, screaming in pain — totally out of control. And while birth is certainly something to be taken seriously, I firmly believe it does not have to happen to you, but can rather be an experience that you have control in shaping.
I started exploring becoming a doula after having my first child. After attending my first birth as a doula, I knew this was a path I could not ignore. From providing hands-on comfort measures to helping interpret medical jargon to just stepping aside and letting mom and partner do their thing, I love every facet of this experience. I feel so grateful and honored to walk beside my clients during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
I moved to Denver, CO nearly a decade ago with my now-husband, Tony. We have two beautiful daughters and love introducing them to everything Colorado has to offer (ok, you won't catch me on a mountain bike with them, but I do love to ski!)
When I'm not hanging with the family — i.e. wrangling a toddler or protecting a baby from said toddler's energy — I love reading, listening to podcasts, trying new restaurants, and hanging out with my girlfriends.
I'd love to hear about your pregnancy and what you're looking for in a doula.
